Updated: 05/14/2013 - I'm still focused on meeting my goal of doing a pull-up. And I'm almost there! But I'm always getting this question:
No homes or businesses were damaged and no one was injured after
a thunderstorm dropped up to an inch of rain in some areas. Some
residents were trapped in mud as high as four feet deep.
Residents are being allowed back in with a warning that more
rain could fall tonight.
Sheriff spokesman Ron VanMeter says a mile-long diversion
channel and other measures taken after the Coal Seam Fire seemed to
have helped avoid disaster.
The channel routes runoff from Mitchell Creek into the Colorado
River.
Storms also triggered mudslides south of Bailey and floods in
the Durango area.
