Police say a sexual predator is off the streets. But, they fear more victims may come forward.
29-year old Oliver Newell is a cook at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort. He turned himself in to police last Friday. They say Newell sexually assaulted several men and possibly a juvenile between July and December of last year. He's charged with second degree kidnapping, sexual assault on a child and sexual assault.
Newell made his first court appearance on Monday. He's originally from Jamaica. But, has lived in Colorado Springs for a few years. And police say he has sexually assaulted several men in the community.
Oliver Newell owns two homes in a quiet newly developed Colorado Springs neighborhood. He lives in the one on the left and has a for rent sign outside the other. Police say he lured several men to his home between July and December of last year by using a phone chat line.
"Several of these men had talked to a female party on the phone chat line. They had arranged to go to a location to meet up with the female party," said Detective Adam Romine with the Colorado Springs Police Department.
But, when the alleged victims walked to the door, police say the woman was no where to be found. "Mr. Newell was in contact with the men while they were there. At some point, the men lost consciousness and that's when they were sexually assaulted," said Romine.
Neighbors are in disbelief. "That's horrible. I have 5 kids. I'm really shocked." A handful of alleged victims have already been identified. But, police fear other men who haven't come forward yet were lured on false pretenses to the home.
Newell is being held at the Criminal Justice Center on $500,000 bond. He's expected to be back in court next Thursday.
