Mudslide

(Bailey-AP) -- Heavy rains Monday afternoon caused a mudslide in Jefferson County that closed parts of U.S. 285 near Bailey for a while.

Paul Peterson of the Colorado Department of Transportation says mud and other debris flooded onto the two-lane highway at about between Bailey and Shawnee. The mudslide happened near the Platte Canyon High School where a fire burned earlier this summer. The Park County Sheriff's office says mud washed through some homes.

Road crews are clearing the highway and apparently no one was trapped.
