Police say a man shoots his wife, and then turns the gun on himself. They are investigating what appears to be a murder-suicide. It happened on the 700 block of Yucca Drive, not far from the intersection Cimarron and 8th Street.
Police say 82-year-old Glen Olston shot his 84-year-old wife, Sumiko. The couple was found in the bedroom and both with gunshot wounds in the chest. They were discovered when a family member went to check on them this afternoon. "It doesn't appear domestic. She was ill and under the 24/7 care of husband," Sgt. Sal Fiorillo with the Colorado Springs Dept. said. One neighbor tells us Sumiko had been struggling with Alzheimer’s. “They were friendly, kind, helpful… the sweetest people on earth," Margaret Knight, a neighbor said.
Neighbors say it's strange to see cop cars in their neighborhood. "It's a good, quiet neighborhood. I’m shocked to see something like this around here," Teresa Wildman, another neighbor said.
Police say it's likely the shooting happened last night. This is the 3rd murder of the year.
