A woman is dead after a car crash in Pueblo, along Interstate 25. The coroner says the driver had been shot. Police were not calling the crash a murder case Sunday night, but they did call the death suspicious.
The crash happened just before 8:00 AM Sunday morning, at I-25 and Highway 50. Pueblo police say the 1998 Ford Ranger was exiting the interstate, when the truck collided with the guardrail and raced across highway 50. It then jumped the curb and rolled down the embankment.
The victim, a 58-year-old woman, died at Parkview Hospital.
Initially, police believed the woman had died from injuries sustained in the crash. However, the coroners office later reported the woman had also sustained a single gunshot wound, which they say contributed to her death. Because this is an on-going investigation, police are not releasing the woman's name.
