One child was found dead and a firefighter was hurt after a fire roared through a Commerce City home Thursday morning, just west of the Rocky Mountain Arsenal.
Adams County sheriff's Sergeant Louis Dixon confirms that the body of a two-year-old child was found inside the home after firefighters extinguished the flames.
A woman and three other children were able to escape. A firefighter was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The fire broke out about 6:30 a.m. in the 78-hundred block of Larkwood Street. Dixon called the blaze a hot fire that went up fast.
Homes on either side of the fire were evacuated, but crews were able to contain the flames to the one home.
Dixon says officials have not made a final determination, but it appears no crime occurred.
The names of the victim and the family have not been released.
The cause of the blaze is unknown.
