The body of a Fort Carson soldier from Arizona who was killed in Iraq will return to Arizona on Friday.
The US Army says Specialist Collin Schockmel died on January 16th when his unit was attacked by insurgents. He was 19.
He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division at Fort Carson.
Schockmel's body will be returned to Fort Huachuca in Sierra Vista, Arizona. A public memorial service has been set for Wednesday, January 31st at Fort Huachuca. A funeral service will follow at the Southern Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Sierra Vista.
