(Washington-Dow Jones/AP) -- WorldCom says months before its apparent four billion dollar accounting fraud was uncovered, then-auditor Arthur Andersen assured the company its accounting appeared to be clean.
The embattled telecom company filed a revised statement with the Securities and Exchange Commission today. It provided added details about its discovery of the accounting problems.
WorldCom said that at a February meeting with its audit committee, Andersen said that it had no disagreements with WorldCom's accounting.
The filing also contends that Andersen said it had found no significant or unusual transactions.
Andersen has previously said that former WorldCom chief financial officer Scott Sullivan withheld information from the accounting firm, and that its work for WorldCom complied with all proper standards.
