Snow is expected to develop for our Monday afternoon and overnight hours. Bands of heavier snow are possible..and something we will be monitoring throughout the day today. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued for far northern El Paso County where ~4" are possible by Tuesday morning. Also ahead, a High Wind Watch for much of southeast Colorado from 4-11am Tuesday morning as wind gusts could reach up to 60 mph. Xcel Energy is keeping a four-inch high pressure gas line open despite a leak to keep heat going to 20-thousand homes in Highlands Ranch.
Sixty-one homes have been evacuated.
Spokesman Mark Stutz says the Oklahoma crew should go to work this afternoon (Saturday).
A bypass is being installed around the leak.
Stutz, urged consumers to be careful with space heaters and other alternative heat sources.
The Weather Service says the temperature is eight below in Highlands Ranch.
