A 21 year old Louisiana man skiing for the first time ever is dead Tuesday after he crashed into a tree at the Breckenridge ski resort.
William McDonnel, a student from Tulane University, came to Breckenridge Mondayt night. He tried skiing for the first time in the morning, without taking a lesson.
The Summit County Coroner's Office reports McDonnel was on a run rated for beginners about 3 p.m. when he lost control, fell, and struck a tree head first. Preliminary cause of death is skull fracture.
It's the second ski-related death in Summit County this year. In December, a 20 year old skier was killed in a tree collision at Keystone.
