A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Several inches of accumulation will be possible in areas where these bands develop. For more information click the ‘Weather’ tab...
A Colorado State football player suspended from the team for his role in a bank-fraud scheme has received four years of supervised probation and a four-year deferred sentence.
Freshman defensive lineman Brian Abata has also been ordered to serve 240 hours of community service and pay 14-thousand dollars in restitution.
Abata was on a football scholarship and could be expelled from the university.
He's among eight people arrested last year for allegedly depositing forged checks into other people's accounts and then using stolen debit cards to buy money orders based on the inflated deposits.
Abata and two other Colorado State football players were kicked off the team after they were arrested.
Abata pleaded guilty in the case.
His attorney told Larimer County District Judge Terence Gilmore that Abata was sorry for his crimes and that his mistakes may cost him a future as a professional football player.
