The state could soon decide whether or not a convicted cannibal will be set free.
10 years ago, Alamosa police found the dismembered body of Peter Green.
His torso was found in a closet, his legs in a trash bin, and his flesh in a crockpot belonging to his girlfriend Carolyn Gloria Blanton.
Blanton shot Green 4 times and prepared human stew from the flesh off his legs.
She told police Green "was in heaven and happy".
Psychiatrists diagnosed Blanton as a paranoid schizophrenic and a jury found her not guilty by reason of insanity.
She's been locked up at the Colorado Mental Health Institute in Pueblo since.
But now, the hospital says she should be released.
That decision could come after she's evaluated on December 1st.
If set free, Blanton will receive 4 hours of mental health treatment weekly.
Doctors say schizophrenics who commit major crimes rarely do so again.
