Recent snowstorms couldn't stop an 84-year-old tradition at Pikes Peak.
Every year since 1922, climbers with the Pikes Peak AdAmAn Club have hiked the icy slopes of Barr Trail to the top of Pikes Peak to ignite a fireworks show for the new year.
Traditionally they would have spent a night on the mountain at Barr Camp and scrambled to the summit on New Year's Eve.
This time, avalanche danger threatened the group's plans. But they just chose a different route.
The group drove and hiked the Pikes Peak Highway yesterday and made it to the summit in the afternoon.
