Blizzard conditions are forecast to hit the Eastern Plains again today, with heavy snow and winds up to 35 miles per hour.
The National Weather Service says travel will be difficult or impossible today on the Plains and into tonight. What roads that are open are icy and snow-packed. National Guard troops rescued 46 people from a bus that slid off a highway outside Springfield in southeastern Colorado Friday. The bus was carrying members of a youth group from a Methodist church from Texas on their way to Crested Butte for their annual ski trip.
Interstate 70 from outside Denver to Kansas is closed. In Southeastern Colorado, U.S 50 is closed from La Junta to Kansas and U.S 160 is closed from Trinidad to Kansas.
KKTV meteorologist Brenden Borremens says another foot of snow could fall on the Eastern Plains by Sunday morning with even higher drifts.
Scattered snow showers and blowing snow is expected in Colorado Springs and Pueblo.
