Governor-elect Bill Ritter says he will nominate farmer and former Prowers County Commissioner John Stulp to head the Colorado Agriculture Department.
The Democrat also said he would appoint Republican Manitou Springs Mayor Marcy Morrison as insurance commissioner. She has served on the state Board of Health.
Ritter said he hoped to represent all of Colorado -- not just Denver -- with his appointments. Ritter is a former Denver district attorney.
Stulp has served on the state Board of Agriculture and Wildlife Commission, and has been a leading proponent of building wind farms on the Eastern Plains to bring new economic opportunities to farmers and ranchers.
