An Air Force Academy cadet could now be the first to face a court martial since the sex assaults began after a request to Air Force Secretary James Roche was rejected.

Cadet 3rd class Doug Meester submitted a letter of request last july to air force Secretary Roche asking for a resignation instead of standing trial.

His request was denied

Meester has been charged with rape, forcible sodomy, indecent assault, and conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman for providing alcohol to underage drinkers.

A court date has not been set yet.

He could possibly face confinement for life.
