An Evans couple helped save Christmas this year, albeit a day late, for a family that nearly lost all of their holiday gifts.
Valerie and Ruben Salazar say they were in Greeley on Christmas Eve when they came across a big bundle of Christmas presents, all wrapped, scattered across the road and buried in snow.
The presents were marked with the names of children. But with nothing but answering machines on at every agency they could think of that might help, the Salazars say they had given up hope of finding the children to match to the presents.
Then, on Tuesday, a radio station broadcast the names in a plea for the rightful owners. Within an hour they had found the family.
Eric Flores called to say the gifts bounced out of the back of his pickup truck as he drove his family back from a Christmas Eve party.
The Salazars say just knowing they made a difference made it feel like Christmas all over again.
