I love people who are paranoid about "big brother". Thank god that most of you are getting old and won"t be voting for much longer.

BIG BROTHER IS ALWAYS WATCHING!! This is Orwellian prophecy coming to fruition.

Personally I would have just been happy for them to catch the people who stole my vehicle last year out of my driveway in the middle of the night!! I was awaken at 3 in the morning informing me my vehicle had been stolen and was now just a piece of twisted medal on Powers. The thing that still bothers me is that things were in my vehicle that belonged to the person who stole it they never collected those items to see if they could connect them to the person!! So this person still runs free while my sense of security was gone for quite a long time!!

I know this may be a shock, but the police can already run your plate and obtain the same information about the status of the car and registered owner info. This system only automates the process to make it safer for the officer driving the cruiser. Their attention can be on the road rather than their mobile computer. It also makes running plates more efficient to look for stolen vehicles.

Surveillance on tax payers is more important than fixing the pot holes damaging vehicles, or re establishing areas that were closed due to "lack of funding"? How does this make people want to vote "Yes" on tax increases? $200K could fix a lot of real problems in the city a "majority" of the citizens experience every day. The "insurance companies" should grant funds to fix the roads which will provide "jobs" and limit damage to vehicles.

It is always the ignorant portion of the population who say "If you are doing nothing wrong then you have nothing to worry about." Well, I do have something to worry about; I am a law abiding citizen but do not want the government knowing my every move or have the capability to know my every move. The Internet is bad enough.

right on to the CSPD for smart thinking. it seems as if the police are getting better at catching more criminals. all you have to remember is you have no worry if YOU stay out of trouble! maybe they'll get the ones also that have that snotty look, the one that if looks killed i'd be dead!alot of people just look like they got an attitude,,,,,,,WHO CARES. LMAO

When the police become federalized (for our own protection) you'll now face a felony charge for whatever reason you get pulled over. Of course, as long as you are obedient (not one of the "bad guys") you will have nothing to worry about. It's gonna be an interesting summer.

Notice how it's funded through insurance policies and not local government. In this way EVERY city can afford cameras. If every city has cameras then that means 99.99% of ALL stolen cars will be recovered.I feel more secure already! Can we have more cameras, please? And tasers, too? A few UAV flying over the city might help prevent taser theft, also.

It's one thing to have gang members shooting at us....now we have cameras shooting at us. When will all the shootig stop?

Do you realize that most people that have a suspended DL are suspended for a reason? Several examples; No insurance, Convicted of a DUI, HTO Habitual Traffic Offender (convicted of SEVERAL traffic offenses) basically people who don't know how to drive or don't care to follow the law. I don't think they should be driving. You all complain that police don't do enough. Then when they try to do more you complain that they do too much. I don't get it.

Thomas, if your car was the one stollen probably you would not say it's a waste of money. I think the cameras will be a good thing since it will help getting the bad guys. In what concerns me, I don't want anybody stilling my car and being able to get away with it. I would like them caught.

So, I understand how it works to catch license plate offenses but how does it know who is driving the vehicle? How does that work?

That's really clever how they just sneaked in that suspended drivers will be sought after also. So what else and who else are they watching for that they don't tell us about? Have we really gotten to the point where we have to be spied on. That is really scary. Why dont they use this technology to spy on the real dangers to our society, ae: known sex offenders, child molestors, gangs, etc? I have more of a concern about those people than I do of my car getting stolen or a person that is driving on a suspended license, those people are not causing deaths or trauma or making our communities danger zones.
