Starting July 1st, all El Paso County residents are eligible for a discount prescription card, provided by the county for free. The card will be available regardless of age, income or existing health coverage.

There is no cost to the county, the tax payers, or the card holder. It may sound too good to be true, but the discount is contracted between the National Association of Counties and Caremark, a large pharmaceutical distributor. El Paso County is able to piggy back off of the savings.

"Caremark works it out with the pharmacies with a rebate and that's how the savings is passed on," County Commissioner Sallie Clark explained.

And Clark says it couldn't have happened at a better time. "We're really glad to be able to roll this out now when people are out of work or needing that extra big of help." Clark says.

The card will be available for pick up at many county facilities including the Clerk and Recorder Offices, Treasurer's Office, Assessor's Office, Department of Human Services, Health Department and the Pikes Peak Workforce center. A complete listing of discount card distribution points can be found at the El Paso County link below. You can also call (719) 520-6337
