Families from throughout the Weld County area are expected to show up in droves at a social services office Wednesday, following the raid of a Swift and Company meatpacking plant in Greeley.
Agents with Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, raided six plants in six states Tuesday, including the one in Greeley.
Reportedly, about 800 workers in Greeley were identified as illegal immigrants, and 300 of them will be deported within a week. Meantime, that plant is up and running again, after operations were temporarily suspended during and after Tuesday's raid.
Swift has estimated it could lose up to 40 percent of its workers nationwide, costing the company up to 100 million dollars.
