Kids who bike to school in Pueblo will have better routes to choose from this fall.

Previous maps, printed in 2005, show two types of routes. One route is designated for all riders and one for advanced riders.

A new map designed by the Pueblo Area Council Of Governments (PACOG), the Pueblo Active Community Environments committee (PACE) And others, break the bike routes down into three categories; all riders, intermediate riders, and advanced riders. New routes with kids in mind have been added to provide safe routes to school.

"We've kind of changed our focus to, would you take your nine-year-old kid out on these routes with you?" says PACOG spokesman, Todd Ahlenius.

Wednesday night, a draft version of the map will be open to public opinion. The scheduled viewing is from 4-6 pm in the pueblo county conference room at 1001 N. Santa Fe Avenue.

Colorado Springs is also reworking their bike route map. They hope to be able to distribute it this fall.
