Holiday mail deadlines approaching fast

Black Friday was barely a week ago, and lots of folks haven't even thought about holiday shopping. But already the deadline is close for mailing packages to the troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The Postal Service says you have to get them to the post office by Monday to make sure they arrive before Christmas. For soldiers elsewhere overseas, the deadline is December eleventh.

Anyone mailing a package domestically has until December 18th to get it out for pre-Christmas delivery. Priority Mail gives you two extra days. And procrastinators can ship by Express Mail up to December 23rd.

With 20 billion pieces of mail expected to be moving between Thanksgiving and Christmas, the Postal Service says the best idea is to mail things as early as you can
