A sick American research worker is on his way to Houston after being rescued from the South Pole. The Chilean Air Force says a Lear jet carrying the ill employee of Centennial based Raytheon Polar
Services left the Punta Arenas airport in Chile Monday morning. The plane is scheduled to make brief stops in Santiago, Chile; Lima, Peru; and Sao Paulo, Brazil, before arriving in Houston.

The man is reportedly suffering from bladder problems that could require surgery. The man's name has not been released.

A turboprop plane from Canada rescued the man during a daring mission on Saturday. Raytheon handles contract work for the National Science Foundation at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole station.
