Wednesday will offer more cloud cover and cooler temperatures. By later Wednesday afternoon, rain showers will develop across the Pikes Peak Region and slowly drift southward. Those rain showers will change to snow at higher elevations, and accumulations will be likely. At lower elevations, snow accumulation does not appear to be a big deal. There's a new coalition in Washington, D-C formed to defend the interests of ski and snowboard resorts. Democratic representative Mark Udall from Eagle County says the coalition wants to work with elected officials and the ski industry to keep the sport "healthy, vibrant and environmentally responsible.''
It's called the Congressional Ski and Snowboard Caucus and Udall says it will deal with issues including land management, transportation, wildlife, education and housing in ski resort communities.
Udall was joined by Republican New York Representative John Sweeney, industry leaders and members of the U.S. ski team in Washington last week to announce the formation of the caucus.
