Throngs of shoppers are descending on Colorado stores Friday as the holiday buying season gets under way.
Retailers are pulling out promotions and discounts to try to boost sales.
Some stores opened up for eager shoppers last night, and shoppers started lining up yesterday to get into other stores for early deals Friday.
The Colorado Retail Council forecasts a sales increase of five to six percent over last holiday shopping season.
That's about the same as expectations nationally. The National Retail Federation has forecast a five percent increase in holiday sales nationwide, to $457 billion.
