Soldiers Enjoy Thanksgiving, Family

Football, family and no fatigues. It's the kind of Thanksgiving PFC Josh Knowlton is thankful for and a far cry from how he spent last year.
"The troops down at Fort Knox set it up so we could have dinner in a cafeteria," said Knowlton. "It was a pretty good deal."
But no match for dinner at grandma's house. Knowlton and his friends PFC Andrew Allman, PFC Brian Johnson and about 20 friends and family members gathered there Thursday afternoon.
"We prayed for Josh," said his grandma Margie McDonald. "From the time he went in, to the time he came out."
Which was just a day ago. Knowlton was one of last 35 soldiers with 3rd Heavy Brigade Combat Team to return to Fort Carson Wednesday.
Turkey, trimmings, and an extra helping of stories from Iraq filled the house.
"I remember when it was 150 degrees and I went to go walk away and my boots had melted on the asphalt!" Said Knowlton.
No boots here, just happy feet, grateful hearts and bowed heads as the family gave thanks for being together... something they say they do every day, holiday or not.
