Federal safety officials are fining the contractors behind a massive Interstate 25 expansion project in Colorado Springs.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration announced $120,000 in fines against contractors for what the administration deemed serious safety violations.

OSHA began investigating the $150 million Springs project in April after a crane operator was crushed to death on the job. That was followed by two more crane collapses.
