Jade Trujillo says out of the blue...she was issued a temporary court order, claiming she was an unfit mother. She says she was forced to either give up custody to her own dad or her son would be sent into foster care. Jade says this came as a shock because she has never mistreated her three-year-old son Luis.
"I love my son very much and he has always been taken care of," Jade said.
But Friday night, she says her Uncle, Judge William Trujillo got involved and she was issued a temporary court order. The court order was not issued by Judge Trujillo it was issued by Judge J. Patrick Kelly but Jade says she think her uncle was behind it. She says she was forced to hand over custody of Luis. Police reports say the Department of Human Services claimed Jade used drugs and Luis was in danger. Jade says that’s not true.
"They didn't have any kind of evidence," She said.
Jade says this all came as a complete surprise to her...considering DHS has never contacted her in the past. She says she thinks her uncle over-stepped his boundaries as a Judge.
"I just wish that for five minutes that maybe they would put their own feelings aside and realize that the only person that’s being hurt by this is my son," She said.
Jade was arrested Saturday afternoon after she took her son to Walsenburg. She says she hasn't seen Luis since and she hopes he's safe.
We were unable to get a hold of DHS Sunday because they were closed and when we called the Magistrate's home...we were told he didn't want to speak with us.
