Denver's clerk and recorder has tendered his resignation while city workers continue counting ballots from last week's election.
Clerk and Recorder Wayne Vaden says in a resignation letter that he'll leave office at the end of the year, or when his replacement is named.
He also says he'll cooperate with investigations into the city's election problems, and he says he accepts responsibility, as one of the city's election commissioners.
Mayor John Hickenlooper says he had NOT planned to ask for Vaden's resignation, and calls him a valuable member of the city's government who enhanced customer service and document processing.
The mayor says Vaden has been frustrated by difficulties at the Election Commission.
