If you buy a spec house in one Black Forest development now, you get a free car.
Two homes in the development come with a brand new Ford Mustang...a unique incentive that’s been sparking some interest.
Lara Winter says she and her associates at Homestead Services wanted to offer something unique to their buyers.
"The market has slowed down somewhat so we're just trying to peak some interest from people," Winter said.
Incentives to buy or build homes is nothing new...but usually its a free TV or a Lazy Boy...not a car. Gary Beres from Remax Properties says incentives are starting to be offered because there are simply more homes on the market.
"We're running about 38-percent above where we were a year ago," He said.
Beres also says even though it’s advertised as free...it’s really not. He says the price of the car is built into the house.
And that’s a fact that Homestead Services doesn't deny.
Beres says all incentives are really good for is marketing and he thinks that in some cases it would just be better to lower the price of the home.
But Homestead Services says they feel their prices are already reasonable and they will continue to offer incentives as long as it keeps their phone ringing.
Homestead Services has yet to sell one of their homes that comes with the free Mustang...but they say they have had some very interested buyers.
