A former Denver-area day care operator is being ordered to serve 78 years to life in prison for sexually assaulting children in his care.
A judge today handed down that sentence to 29-year-old Joseph Renander.
He was found guilty in April on multiple counts -- including sexual assault on a child by a person in a position of trust.
He was also convicted of sexual assault as a pattern of conduct, and enticement of a child.
The victims were all under the age of nine when abused between June 2001 and December 2004.
Renander never took the stand in his own defense.
His mother, Kathy Renander, insists her son is innocent -- saying several facts never came out at trial, and some of the things that did were "twisted."
The day care centers are now closed.
