A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. Areas under these bands will see periods of heavy snowfall which, with windy conditions, could create travel difficulties. Democratic Governor-elect Bill Ritter toured the state Capitol today with outgoing Republican Governor Bill Owens, getting a firsthand look at the workspace that'll soon be his.
Ritter defeated Republican Bob Beauprez on Tuesday for the right to succeed Owens, who was barred from running again because of term limits.
Owens and Ritter even exchanged a few laughs, with Owens telling the governor-to-be that he didn't need to change a thing.
The two will talk seriously a little later today about the transition of power.
Ritter will take office January Ninth.
