Wednesday night a group of cyclists made a special bike ride across Colorado Springs to honor those killed or injured while riding a bike.
The group rode from Old Town Bike Shop in downtown to 26th Street on the Spring’s westside where a roadside memorial still stands for two cyclists killed last summer.
Jason Kilroy and Edgar Juarez were killed in August of 2008 when the driver of a truck made an illegal left turn.
"It happens too frequently," said Rob Lucas who organized Wednesday’s group ride which they called a Ride of Silence.
"Unfortunately a lot of motorists don't look, the ghost bikes on 26th Street are too remind people,” Lucas said.
"Be aware that there are cyclists out there and we are on the roads as well as cars, be mindful," said David Meadows, a cyclist on the ride.
The group stopped at the memorial for a few minutes for a moment of silence and as they rode away, they hoped and prayed that lessons have been learned and no more lives have to be lost.
There is another group ride planned for August 6th, on the one year-anniversary of Jason and EJ's deaths.
Wednesday’s Ride of Silence is actually a national event, hundreds of cities across the country held their own rides to honor those killed.
