A southern Colorado doctor says she's performing cutting edge procedures, when it comes to cosmetic surgery.

Dr. Rina Shinn, in Pueblo, says she's got a new way to get rid of the fat that's hard to eliminate.

The new technique is for an old procedure, liposuction, and could become the gold standard in body shaping.

In the past liposuction was considered very risky, but new advances in technology may have reduced the potential dangers significantly.

The latest technique is called water assisted liposuction.

A far cry from the 70s and 80s version where full anasthetic was required.

By using the Body Jet system, the Dr. Shinn blasts the fat cells off of the tissue, much like a power washer removes paint.

Using short controlled bursts, and slow minimal movements, the chance of experiencing many of common complications are reduced.

"The amazing thing is that this allows such precise body contouring and transformation f the body to the level that was never available before," says Dr. Shinn.

Dr. Shinn says, she is the only doctor in Colorado who is performing this procedure at the moment.

She also says, it is not a weight loss technique and not everyone is a candidate.
