A standoff in Canon City is over, after police shoot the suspect.
Police say Steve Wilson of Rockvale went into the Palace Drug Store and demanded narcotics around noon on Wednesday.
They say he held a store employee hostage for a couple of hours, before he released her.
Police negotiators tried to talk Wilson out of the store.
At 7:45pm, they say he came out and threatened officers with a gun.
He was then shot.
A spokesperson with St. Thomas More hospital in Canon City says Wilson was shot in the head.
He's been transferred to St. Mary Corwin Hospital in Pueblo.
The officers involved in the shooting have been placed on routine administrative leave.
The investigation is now in the hands of the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.
