Governor Owens and his wife Frances are getting a trial separation.
The couple married in 1975 in Lubbock, Texas and have three children, ages 20, 17 and 12. They plan to keep full public schedules, including some joint appearances.
The governor says he hopes he and his wife will be able to work
out their differences.
The family lives in a Denver suburb, and the governor's spokesman says he doesn't know where Owens or his wife will live.
The Roman Catholic governor often cites family values in speeches. Frances Owens has had an active role in her husband's administration.
