State health officials say the three counties hardest hit by the West Nile virus will receive more than half the money the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention gave Colorado to combat the virus.

Boulder, Larimer and Weld counties will each receive $85,000 from the $500,000 given to the state.

As of Monday, Boulder County reported 87 human West Nile cases, Larimer County reported 110 and Weld County reported 133 cases.

State health officials reported 699 human cases in Colorado, including eight deaths.
