A system producing heavy snow in the central mountains arrives in SE Colorado overnight Sunday into Monday bringing moisture, windy conditions and colder temperatures. Snow showers will be possible across the I-25 corridor to start the day. This system will produce bands of snow through the day Monday. A Nebraska man will stand trial in November in connection with a rollover accident that killed a Colorado woman, and critically injured her husband and daughter.
49 year0old Scott Vanderbeek of O'Neill, Nebraska faces charges of misdemeanor motor vehicle homicide and leaving the scene of an accident.
Authorities say a piece of furniture fell from a trailer he was pulling along Interstate 80 near Kearney, Nebraska on July 20th. Investigators say Mark Backlin of Colorado Springs then swerved to avoid hitting the dresser, and rolled his vehicle. His wife, 53-year-old Judith Lombeida, was killed.
Vanderbeek contacted investigators two days later and told them he might be involved. He could face up to a year in jail and a one-thousand-dollar fine if convicted.
