An inmate convicted on drug charges is back behind bars after escaping from prison. Forty-four-year-old Mario Rendonbrito had been missing since Friday night when he walked away from the Four-Mile Correctional Complex near Canon City.
He was recaptured about 8:30 Monday morning in Custer County. Canon City police had urged area residents to keep their doors locked as the search continued for the convicted drug dealer.
Rendonbrito had served about seven years of a 24-year sentence when he escaped. Investigators say he would have been eligible for parole in two years.
