The man accused of dragging a woman to her death last week now faces five criminal counts, including first-degree murder.
Douglas County prosecutors filed formal charges against 36-year-old Jose Luis Rubi-Nava in a Castle Rock courtroom Monday. He's also accused of second-degree kidnapping, forgery of a government-issued document, and possession of a forged instrument. Rubi-Nava waived a formal reading of the charges aloud in a Castle Rock courtroom this morning.
A coroner says 49-year-old Luz Maria Franco Fierros died of strangulation and blunt force trauma to the head after being dragged for more than a mile. Her body was found last Monday morning about 20 miles south of Denver.
The victim was reportedly Rubi-Nava's girlfriend.
