Some 30,000 Colorado children will be left out of a state funded health program for the next six months because of a cap mandated by budget cuts.

The Children's Health Plan Plus was set up to provide health care to children of low-income and uninsured households. But officials say the state has already reached the cap of 53,000 out of a potential group of more than 86,000.

Governor Owens says his proposed budget will include a plan to lift the cap, but that wouldn't happen until next July.

No more people will be able to sign up for the program as of Saturday.
