Roads are icy in spots that saw accumulating snow yesterday. Allow yourself plenty of extra time this morning and dress warmly, as wind chills are in the single digits and teens for many. A second disturbance will bring another round of snow showers to the Front Range this afternoon and early evening. While not as heavy as yesterday, some additional light accumulations over the higher terrain will be possible, including Teller and Northern El Paso Counties. Highs in the 30s and 40s will feel colder when factoring a blustery northwest wind. Click on the 'Weather' tab for more...
Colorado Springs Police closed portions of El Camino and Flintridge Drive for for nearly 6 hours Friday night, during a standoff at the New Horizons apartment complex. Around 4:30 PM, witnesses near the complex reported hearing a gun shot fired by a man holding what they say appeared to be a rifle. Police say the suspect's name is Bart DiMarco. Authorities evacuated residents from the apartment and closed off access to several streets, lined with worried neighbors, including Bruce Moss.
"This is very scary because we're just one block away," said Moss.
Police say around 10:30 PM, SWAT team members entered the apartment which they suspected DiMarco was hiding in, but found it empty. Following their discovery, police called off the standoff, but continued investigating near the apartment building late Saturday night.
