The Colorado State Patrol is investigating a fatal car crash in Huerfano County. It happened around noon Friday.
State Patrol reports that a 1-year-old girl was ejected and killed in a rollover accident on I-25, near milepost 55. That's about 5 miles north of Walsenburg.
Authorities say there were five passengers in the 1997 Ford Expedition when it rolled. They were a 31-year-old female, a 28-year-old male, a 6-year-old female, a 5-year-old male, and a 1-year-old female.
Both the 31-year-old female and 1-year-old female were ejected from the Expedition. They were reportedly the only ones not wearing seatbelts. The 1-year-old was pronounced deceased at the scene.
All the other passengers were taken to the hospital and treated for minor to moderate injuries.
The driver, 30-year-old Esteban Villarreal-Ruiz was charged with one count of careless driving causing death.
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected in this crash.

I was there at the scene. How many of us have had to feed a crying baby on a long trip? The road was clear then sudden icy patch. This family had an awful accident and are suffering enough because of it. The pain this family was going through was the worst thing I have seen in a long time. We have all done things that we shouldn't have, but you had to have seen the scene of this accident and the horror this mom was going through. Maybe we could see pictures of the moms face, then judge.
I KNOW THIS IS A TRAGEDY BUT THIS CAN HAPPEN TO ANYBODY SO DONT JUDGE CAUSE NO ONE IS PERFECT
Shame on them for not having that baby in a carseat..this is so sad that she was taken so soon cause they neglected to make sure she was safe.
