Beef Recall

By: Associated Press
Updated: Tue 5:13 PM, Aug 05, 2003

Agriculture Department officials say the nearly-195-thousand
pounds of beef products being recalled may be contaminated with
E.coli.

Howard Beef Processors of Pipestone, Minnesota, sold the meat
bearing the establishment code ``E-S-T. 8934'' under the name
Ellison Farms. The meat was sold to supermarkets and through
door-to-door sales nationwide.

The meat was processed sometime between May 30th and June
Eleventh.

Consumers who have the recalled meat are asked to return it to
the store where they purchased it.

E.Coli can cause severe diarrhea and dehydration, and is fatal
in some cases.

Consumers with questions may call Diane Hamersma, a
Howard Beef customer service representative at 1-800-535-4555.
