Security Concerns

By: Associated Press

Security concerns have forced Wednesday's court appearance for Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant to be scheduled late in the day.

A spokeswoman for the state court system says Eagle County
sheriff's deputies want to do a security sweep of the courthouse
before Bryant's four p-m hearing.

The late hour also allows other court business to be finished
before Bryant appears.

Bryant is accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old hotel
worker. He's admitted having sex with the woman, but says it was
consensual.

Security has become more of a concern in recent days because of
threats to the Eagle County district attorney's office and the
alleged victim.

No arrests have been made in connection with the threats.
Several agencies are investigating.
