McDivitt Law Firm is offering its annual "Safe and Sober" free cab rides in Colorado Springs for Saint Patrick's Day.

McDivitt says anyone who has been drinking or who don't feel they have a safe way to get home.

The Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home program will be available from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m.

To request a free cab ride home within Colorado Springs city limits, call Yellow Cab of Colorado Springs at (719) 777-7777 and tell them the ride is on McDivitt Law Firm.

McDivitt says rides are provided to an individual's residence but not to other drinking locations. Due to the high number of ride requests on St. Patrick's Day, rides cannot be guaranteed for everyone who calls; however, every attempt will be made to accommodate everyone who requests a ride home.

McDivitt Law Firm says all too often, they work with clients who have suffered after losing a loved one in an alcohol-related crash.

The Safe and Sober Free Cab Rides program is available during St. Patrick's Day, Cinco de Mayo, Halloween, and New Year's Eve. McDivitt says they have provided more than 1,200 free rides home in two years.

My 10yo son saw this news story this morning, and, at first, thought Mr. McDivitt was driving everyone personally. After explaining how and why the law firm was doing this, my son was about as impressed as a 10yo can get. He (and I) think this is an "awesome" thing to do, so "people don't get drunk and kill or run someone over". It was a great chance to teach my son the dangers of drinking and driving! Way to go!
