A FLASH FLOOD WATCH will go into effect on Tuesday afternoon for most of Southern Colorado. Daytime heating and moisture will combine with a disturbance moving through Colorado to develop numerous thunderstorms. Any one of them will be more than capable of producing very heavy rain. Burn scars and areas that have seen recent heavy rain will be under the greatest risk for flash flooding. The 11 Breaking Weather Team will be tracking this threat all day for you.
A Fort Carson soldier killed in a mortar attack in Iraq was identified Sunday as Specialist Jose L. Mora of Bell Gardens, California. The Pentagon says 24-year-old Mora was killed on Friday in Samarra, Iraq.
Mora was assigned to C Company, 1st Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division based at Fort Carson. He was the 21st soldier with ties to the post to be killed in Iraq.
Also killed in the mortar attack was 22-year-old Specialist Artimus D. Brassfield, of Flint, Michigan. Brassfield was assigned to B Company, 1st Battalion, 66th Armored Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, based at Fort Hood, Texas.
