Some parts of Colorado are seeing more rain than they can handle, but that's not much comfort to some residents of the Western Slope. Grand Junction is suffering through one of the longest dry spells in the city's history.

Official measurements are recorded at Walker Field Airport. No precipitation has fallen there for 56 days, as of Sunday night. That's the fourth-longest dry spell since record-keeping began. The record for the longest period of time without rain is 73 in 1960.

National Weather Service forecaster Dave Nadler says changing weather patterns could bring rain to Grand Junction within a week
or two.
