Grace Headlee and Gabriel Amaya were the first people killed in Lamar since 1992.
Their mother, 32-year-old Rebekah Amaya, is being taken to the state mental hospital in Pueblo after laying down in her cell and refusing to get up.
Amaya reportedly told investigators a spider crawled across her hand last week. The arrest affidavit indicates that when Amaya felt peace instead of fear, she took it as a sign she should kill her children.
Amaya allegedly said she held Gabriel face up under the water until he stopped breathing, then put Grace in the tub with her brother and did the same thing.
Amaya is due in court again Nov. 12.
