A Fort Carson soldier is among the latest casualties of the war in
Iraq. Army Captain Joshua Byers was killed Wednesday when his convoy was attacked about 60 miles west of Baghdad. Seven others were injured.

Byers' mother says her son was riding in a convoy when two men
hiding in roadside bushes set off an explosive device.

The 29-year-old Byers graduated in 1992 from Reed High School in
Sparks, Nevada. He had served as class president there. He graduated from West Point in 1996. The family later moved to South Carolina.
